On 7 September 2005, the participating groups, coalitions
and communities of the Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives / Global
Anti-Incinerator Alliance (GAIA) will once again mark the Global Day of
Action on Waste and Incineration (GDA). First held in 2001, the GDA will
demonstrate our shared purpose of putting an end to the incineration of
waste resources, and of progressing towards clean production, zero waste
and a toxic-free future.
The GDA is an excellent occasion to affirm the shared mission that binds us together, renew our linkages and relationships, celebrate the victories and changes in public policies and awareness that came about by our convergence and action, and gear up for more challenges ahead. Please note that participating groups will have the option of undertaking their activities immediately before, on or after 7 September 2005 to suit local conditions.
